Call for Art: “Muse”
What inspires an artist?

Salem Arts Association Presents “MUSE”. We invite Salem Art Association members to reveal what inspires them to be creative. We’re challenging our member artists to tell us what makes you tick, what made you become artists and what it is that keeps you going. Each image will include a statement about your inspiration and artistic development.
This exhibition complements our “Young at Art” exhibit featuring artwork by local teens.
Submission Criteria: This exhibit is open to current Salem Arts Association member artists who may submit work in any medium that adheres to our theme for the juror’s consideration.
This exhibit is open to Salem Arts Members Only.
Submission Fees: Salem Arts Association members fee is $5.00 per image submission. Artists may submit up to three works.
Submission Form: Please download the gallery submission form, provide all required information requested, and follow instructions on the form. Printed copies must be submitted with your submissions.
You will also be asked to submit, in writing, up to 150 words describing how each piece relates to the theme of the exhibit (your inspiration and/or artistic development). Your statement will be displayed with your artwork.
Awards: Our guest judge will be announced prior to submission dates.

Drop Off Submissions: Sunday, February 25, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Notification of inclusion/exclusion: Notification by email by Wednesday, February 28.
Pick up of unaccepted work: Any work not accepted will need to be picked up Saturday, March 3, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Exhibition Dates: Friday March 2, through Sunday April 29, 2018
Gallery Hours are every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Rules & Regulations: Please be sure to read the Salem Arts Artist Agreement and ensure you accept the agreement on your online member profile page. Non-members must also agree to our agreement provided at the gallery.
Presentation and framing: All submissions must be properly framed, matted, appropriately wired (no saw tooth hangars), and ready to hang. Wired images must have a tight wire positioned within the top quarter of the image height. All submissions will be inspected at take-in to assure they adhere to gallery standards. Submissions not meeting our standards will be rejected.
Sales and Volunteer Requirements: Exhibiting member artists are required to volunteer 3+ hours per month when your artwork is on display in the gallery or the gallery shop.
