Every Tuesday night since 2016 Sue Grillo and Beki Ferrari have put together uniquely eclectic scenes featuring live models as inspiration for drawing. Although initially at Gulu Gulu Café covid restrictions compelled them – with help from the wonderful people at Creative Collective – to switch to an online virtual Zoom! event. This is an exhibit of these drawings curated by Sue and Beki. Stillness can be a moment of solitude, the calm surrender that we feel during mediation, the quiet moment just before a storm, or the tranquility of water. Salem Arts Association invites artists to reflect on the Shelagh Keeley: Drawn to Place exhibition at the Peabody Essex Museum. In this exhibit Keeley created a 58-foot wall drawing inspired by artifacts in the PEM and Phillips Library collections. We invite artists to also be inspired. Please submit artwork inspired by art and artifacts in these collections that resonate with you and/or describe your relationship to the past, present, and future of Salem, the North Shore, and MA.
