Join us for our art critique workshop where artists will present their individual work and receive feedback from their peers in a constructive and productive manner. The critique sessions will be guided by Elizabeth Sultzer to facilitate honest and actionable criticism, artist-to-artist, with respectful and open dialogue. The goal of this workshop is to allow artists to learn or practice how to both give and receive constructive criticism of their work in a friendly and meaningful way and for artists to come away with a stronger sense of community and inspiration to better their own artistic practice.

  • Participating artists should bring 3 to 5 pieces of their own, original work on which they would like feedback *
  • Elizabeth Sultzer and another pre-selected artist will demonstrate constructive critique techniques while presenting their own work and provide constructive criticism as an example.
  • Each artist will give a short introduction of their practice and the work presented here (an “elevator speech” i.e. 1 -2 min.) and then open it up to the group to provide comments.
  • Each artist will receive about 10 minutes of constructive feedback to stay within a reasonable time schedule.
  • Light refreshments will be provided, with the goal of a collegial and convivial atmosphere. There will be a short break after half the artist critique sessions, for leg-stretching etc.

*Note: All 2D and 3D media are encouraged. Prints are highly discouraged unless the work is strictly photographic. Work must not be currently on display in the gallery. Large work (furniture, etc) must be reasonably movable by the artist alone, to expedite the workshop. Easels and pedestals will be provided.
