Artist Statement
I started creating art as a child, growing up in the mountains of Upstate New York, and have always been inspired by the artwork of my grandma, Daisy, who I never got the privilege to meet. My dad likes to say that artistic talent "skipped a generation" and went from his mother, whose name I share as a middle name, to me. Through art, I have turned wonder, love, depression, and admiration into creations that serve as extensions of myself. I have given so much of my art away as presents and have finally decided to paint and draw for myself, which has proved to be healing. I am motivated by everyday life, nature, animals, and people. My art is usually fueled by things that feel special to me, such as a childhood pet, a photo of me as a child, or a friend I admire. My biggest fan and the person who inspires me to be creative every day is my father, whose room is filled with my art. Without him, I would not be where I am today.
